PSE&G Direct Install: A Guide for Business Owners
PSE&G's Direct Install program helps small and midsize businesses in its New Jersey service territory replace aging lighting, HVAC, refrigeration and other equipment with efficient upgrades, with program incentives paying for a significant portion of eligible costs. Here's how it works, who it's designed for, and how High Point helps you get started.
What the program covers
Eligible equipment includes, but isn't limited to:
- Lighting and lighting retrofits
- HVAC systems
- Commercial refrigeration
- Motors
Eligible measures depend on your facility and current program rules.
Who it's designed for
Direct Install is built for small and midsize businesses that receive electric or gas service from PSE&G. Common candidates include warehouses, retail stores, offices, restaurants, self-storage facilities and light manufacturing. Size limits and eligibility rules are set by PSE&G and can change, so we confirm current eligibility for your specific facility.
How the process works
Facility assessment
An on-site review of your lighting and equipment.
Recommendations and estimate
The proposed upgrades, the program's contribution and your share, in writing before anything is installed.
Installation
Completed by an authorized program contractor and scheduled around your operations.
Your share
Depending on current terms, it may be paid in one payment or spread over time on your PSE&G bill.
What it costs
Program incentives cover a significant portion of eligible project costs, and the customer pays the remaining share. The exact split, any caps and the repayment options depend on current program rules and your project. We confirm them in writing before any work begins, so there are no surprises.
Why work with High Point
We look at your whole building, not just one fixture. We guide you through the program from assessment to installation, explain your share before you commit, and look for additional savings in your energy supply contract and utility bills. One accountable partner from start to finish.
Frequently asked questions
Is Direct Install free?
Usually not entirely. Program incentives pay a significant share of eligible costs, and the business pays the remaining portion. We show you your share before you decide.
Do I need to be a PSE&G customer?
Yes. Direct Install is for businesses in PSE&G's service territory. If you're served by another utility, we'll review the programs available to you.
What if my facility is too large for Direct Install?
PSE&G and New Jersey offer other incentive paths for larger facilities. We'll help identify the one that fits your building.
Will the work disrupt my business?
Installation is scheduled around your operations, and we coordinate timing with you in advance.
How long does it take?
Timelines depend on the scope of work, equipment availability and program review. We share an expected timeline with your estimate.
